10. Assessment

Theoretical assessments will take place the first day after the course, from 3.30pm-5.30pm.

Practical assessments will be made in practical training sessions and are primarily done under the form of conducting and analyzing moot mediations.

Representatives of the recognizing mediation centers are welcome to attend each assessment.

Attendees will be evaluated primarily on the following:

Confidence, Presence and authority, Ability to build rapport, Ability to create a safe environment, Ability to create relationships of trust, Awareness of the interests of the parties, Use of energy, demonstration of optimism, persistence, patience, appropriate use of humor, Summarizing, Respect, Tolerance, Confidentiality, Acknowledging feelings and contribution, Encouraging empathy, Listening skills, Questioning skills and ability to clarify, Risk assessment, Keeping parties responsible for the problem, Negotiating skills, Tolerance for ambiguity, Use of information, Exploring options, Saving face, bridging gaps, avoiding deadlock, Management of the mediation, Establishing ground rules, Facilitating not judging, Theoretical knowledge.
